We strongly condemn the mob violence directed at Sri Nankana Sahib Gurdwara and stand in solidarity with the Sikh community in Pakistan.

Earlier today reports came in on social media of a mob gathered at Sri Nankana Sahib Gurdwara that raised anti-Sikh slogans and pelted stones at the Gurdwara. The mob declared that Sri Nankana Sahib would be renamed and all Sikhs evicted. Many muslims on social media spoke in solidarity with Sikhs and condemned the mob and its slogans. It is being claimed that this incident is related to the alleged forced religious conversion of a Sikh girl who was abducted in Sri Nankana Sahib and the mob itself was led by a relative of the abductors. At the time the Sikh community of Sri Nankana Sahib made a stand on the issue organising the community from Sri Nankana Sahib. As per the latest reports the mob has been dispersed by the Sri Nankana Sahib police.

It is also important to point out that the terrorist indian government is once again pretending to play the role of a “secular democracy” by issuing hollow, hypocritical, and self-serving words of condemnation. The terrorist indian state has attacked over 60 Gurdwareh, including Sri Darbar Sahib, led genocidal mobs against Sikhs in Delhi and other cities where the congress party held power in 1984 burning and raping Sikhs, and murdered, tortured, and raped tens of thousands of Sikhs between 1984-1994 to suppress the Khalistan Sangharsh.

Recently the terrorist indian state and its Hindutva forces have demolished Gurdwara Giyan Gohdri Sahib in Hardawar, Daangh Mar Sahib in Assam, Gurdwara Sahib in Gowaliar, Mangu Matt Sahib in Orissa, and Mathan Sahib in Kashmir. There was no mass condemnation of these acts, and in every case the indian police protected Hindutva mobs attacking Sikhs and demolishing Gurdwareh.

Until we have a country of our own we will continue to be at the mercy of racist and fascist violence and the whims of the State. There is a need to remind ourselves that none other than the Khalsa Panth can ensure our safety and survival. Our faith needs to be in our Guru who has bestowed us with sovereignty. We must ensure our Khalsa traditions do not die out and seek the sanctuary of our arms in the struggle for our survival.
